Coach Megan Adkins is a native of Lexington and a lifelong soccer enthusiast not only as a player and a coach but as a parent cheerleader as well. Megan began her Varsity Soccer career for Sayre High School in Lexington while just in the sixth grade and was a three year Varsity letterman by her freshman year. Before her sophomore year Megan transferred to Lexington Catholic High School where she was a three-year Varsity letterman. During her decorated High School career Megan was a multi-year member of the All-District, All-Region, All-City, and All-State teams. For Lexington Catholic, she was a senior Captain, team MVP, received the Coaches Award, and during her senior year she led her team to the State Finals. Megan was also a member of the Kentucky State Olympic Development Program and played for the Kentucky Kickers Soccer Club for several years. After High School Megan joined the West Virginia University Women’s Soccer Program where she was a member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll before injuries unfortunately cut her career short. After her playing career was over, Megan became a member of the Gamma Beta Phi-Honors and Service Fraternity, the Sigma Tau Delta-English Honorary, the Sigma Delta Pi-Spanish Honorary, and was elected the Vice-President of the Inaugural Mountaineer Maniacs Student Athletic Booster Club at WVU. She furthered her education and received her Juris Doctorate Degree from West Virginia University College of Law.
After College Megan resettled in Lexington and began a family. Megan has been heavily involved in youth soccer development, coaching teams at the YMCA, Lexington Youth Soccer Association, Woodford Youth Soccer Association, Commonwealth Soccer Club and holds her National D License. Megan spent three years serving as the Varsity Girls Assistant Head Coach for Lexington Catholic High School where she helped lead the team to two consecutive State Championship Games.
Megan is the proud mother of four (yes, four!) beautiful children, three girls and a boy. In her spare time Megan is a devoted member of her church, an avid Mountaineer fan, and stays true to her Lexington roots by cheering on her beloved Wildcats. Megan is thrilled and honored to be a founding member of the Frederick Douglass High School Girls Soccer Team and is dedicated to building the top soccer program in not only the city but the state as well. More importantly, she is excited for the opportunity to help mentor the student-athletes at Frederick Douglass High School, especially the young ladies that will build the foundation for a historic part of Fayette County education and athletics.
