The Nautilus is preparing to embark on its grand expedition, but before setting sail, your team must be assembled. Each expedition crew consists of specialists with unique skills, ensuring the mission runs smoothly. This first step will define your team’s focus, strengths, and roles as you begin your deep-sea gamification exploration.
Identify your team number and topic.
Discuss your experiences with this topic. What does each team member already know?
Assign roles to ensure smooth navigation. Each role contributes to the success of your expedition.
Just as every great voyage requires a skilled crew, your expedition will rely on specific roles to ensure mission success. Your team may distribute these responsibilities as needed, with individuals taking on one or more roles or working collaboratively.
Keeps the expedition on course, ensuring everyone stays on task and works efficiently within the short timeframe.
Records key design decisions, ensuring all findings are documented within the WebQuest site. This role ensures that your discoveries are logged for future explorers.
Prepares and delivers the final expedition report, presenting the team’s findings to the entire fleet at the debriefing session.
Takes on the challenge of assembling the WebQuest in real time, constructing the framework while the team develops content.
Scours the ocean of knowledge (a.k.a. the internet) to uncover additional valuable artifacts (resources) that could enhance the WebQuest design.
Are there additional roles that will benefit your team? Perhaps a Storyteller to weave an immersive narrative, or a Game Master to ensure the WebQuest integrates engaging mechanics. If so, document them in the Google Form.
Every table must leave at least one empty chair for future recruits or late arrivals.
If your table is full, the team must vote someone off the island (or submarine) and send them to another table.
Each crew member must sign the crew log noting: Team Number, Topic, Selected Role, Experience with the Topic, and Other notes.
Once submitted, responses will be visible on your group log/dashboard, giving a live view of all teams, roles, and expertise levels.
