This year's Fannin County GOPicnic will include a "Fannin County's Best" Cook-Off
Competition Categories
The Cook-Off will consist of four competitions: (1) Brisket, (2) Chicken, (3) Beans and (4) Desserts
All competitions are "bring prepared" or "prepare onsite" to judge. It is not required to prepare your entry on site to compete. All competitions require the completion of the required entry form and payment of the entry fee ( Meat Competitions are $100 each. Beans and Deserts are $20 each) prior to the day of the Picnic. No entry registrations will be accepted the day of the Picnic, September 13th. Competitors in the meat categories will be able to pick up their judging box if they wish on Tuesday through Thursday, September 9th through 11th or the morning of the Picnic prior to turn-in time. Competitors in the Beans and Desserts categories may pick up their sample containers for community judging in advance on the same days as the meat categories or the morning of the Picnic. Contact information and category specific details will be emailed to the competitor upon completion of the entry registration for each category. This is not a sanctioned cook-off event.
Prizes For Each Competition Are As Follows:
(1) Brisket -- Champion (40% of Cash Entries & Medal) Reserve Champion (30% of Cash Entries & Medal)
(2) Chicken -- Champion (40% of Cash Entries & Medal) Reserve Champion (30% of Cash Entries & Medal)
(3) Beans -- Champion (30% of Cash Entries & Medal) Reserve Champion (20% of Cash Entries & Medal)
(4) Desserts -- Champion (30% of Cash Entries & Medal) Reserve Champion (20% of Cash Entries & Medal)
*Cash entries refer to the total entry fees for that competition category.
Judging For Each Competition Is As Follows:
(1) Brisket -- Panel of at least five select judges to select top 2.
(2) Chicken -- Panel of at least five select judges to select top 2.
(3) Beans -- Community Judging (Picnic Attendees will be able to purchase a judging ballot and cast their vote for top 2)
(4) Desserts -- Community Judging (Picnic Attendees will be able to purchase a judging ballot and cast their vote for top 2)
Food Sales (Optional)
Registered competitors are welcome to sale excess product the day of the picnic but must complete a booth registration form and pay the fee to reserve a table as a sales booth. The competitor is resp onsible for any licensing, permitting and sales tax requirements for the sales of food products. Competitors are not required to offer product for sale.
