Where do I find information about swim team?
The FCO swim website found at Field Club Swim/Dive has information on practice times, meets, results, and other swim team items.
How does a swimmer qualify for the team?
A swimmer must be able to swim the width of the pool unassisted and without touching the bottom. Field Club offers swim lessons for swimmers who need more time to develop.
How do I know if there is practice or a meet if the weather looks bad?
There will be an email sent out.
How do I sign up my child for a swim meet?
On the swim team website select Meet Schedule, Sign Up, and Results. Click on the meet. Put your swimmer’s name into the form and select submit. You will need to fill this out for each swimmer. The entry deadline is Tuesday at 12pm before the Wednesday meet.
Do my kids have to swim in the meets?
Your kids can swim in meets if they want, but they do not need to swim in any. If you don’t know if your kids are ready to swim in a meet, ask their swim coach.
What is the team uniform?
We have team swimsuits and caps. Here is the link to order the swimsuit - Field Club Store Elsmore Swim Shop. Caps are handed out at the pool. There is also a new t-shirt for each season. Each registered swimmer receives a t-shirt.
Are there any fun activities for the swim team?
Yes! In addition to practice being fun, we have Donut Day and Fun Fridays. Occasionally we have themed swim meets.
Do swimmers and divers get awards for competing?
Yes, there are place and participation ribbons. Ribbons can be picked up at the lifeguard office.
How does a swimmer get a Field Club of Omaha Graduate Towel?
A swimmer who competes through his or her senior year of high school receives a Field Club Swim Team Graduate Towel. The FCO towel is a longstanding tradition, and the towels are presented at the banquet after the season.
How many meets do I need to compete in to be eligible for prelims and finals at the end of the season?
A swimmer must compete in one dual meet to be eligible to swim in prelims and finals.
What is the maximum number of events a swimmer may compete in at a meet?
A swimmer may compete in two individual events and two relays.
What is the order of events at swim meets?
Here is the order of events. It is the same for every meet.
How do swimmers get selected for relays?
Relay entries are based on times.
When are swim meets?
Meets are generally on Wednesday evenings.
5:00-5:15 - 8u warmup
5:15-5:30 - 9-10 warmup
5:30-5:45 - 11 & over warmup
Meets begin at 6pm.
Where/when are meet results posted?
Meet results will be posted at the pool the morning after the meet. They will also be uploaded to the swim website.
How do entries work for the Championship Meet (prelims/finals)?
Each team in the league is allowed four athletes in each individual event. Each team is allowed one relay in each relay event. Coach Anderson will send out entries for the Championship meet shortly after the last dual meet of the season.
