Horse on Exhibit Requirements
1. Horse Registration
4-H members must designate their project animal(s) by April 1 of the current year. Each exhibitor must
submit the following to register their horse(s):
Current dated Permission to Participate form - signed during online enrollment
Current dated Franklin County Agricultural Society Release Form
Horse Description Form – Completely filled out
Color Photo of each side of the horse (at least 3x4). Photos should show all markings.
If leased, copy of the signed lease agreement covering the dates of the fair
2. EquiSTEP Completion
4-H members with a Horse on Exhibit must complete the EquiSTEP training program by April 1 of the current year. Participants must complete the quiz associated with the training and achieve a minimum score of 7 out of 10. A member will not be eligible to bring a horse to the fair without completing the quiz with a passing grade by April 1.
3. Project Book Grading
4-H member must complete grading in one of the approved 4-H Horse project books:
Beginning Horse Management – 174
Light Horse Selection – 175
Basic Horse Training – 177
Learning to Jump – 180
Draft Horse – 181
Small Equine – 182
Standardbred Horse – 184
Gymkhana - 186
Roping - 187
Trail Riding – 188
Dressage – 189
4. Vaccinations
All 4-H exhibitors bringing a horse to the Franklin County Fair will be required to provide proof of 2026
vaccinations to include the following. Proof of vaccinations is turned in to the club advisor (Using the
2026 Vaccine & Coggins Requirements form) to be submitted with the Advisor’s Stall Request
form. Due – Saturday, June 20, 2026.
Eastern/Western Equine Encephalomyelitis
Rabies
Tetanus
West Nile
Flu / Rhino
5. Negative Coggins
A negative coggins form is required. Proof of negative coggins is turned in to the club advisor (Using
the 2025 Vaccine & Coggins Requirements form) to be submitted with the Advisor’s Stall Request
form. Due –Saturday, June 20, 2026.
6. Stall Fee
The $40 fair stall fee is due to your club advisor to submit with the Stall Request form. Club advisor
submits one (1) club check for stalls. Due – Saturday, June 20, 2026.
