The Prof. Park's lab is designing, creating and applying novel families of synthetic and biomimetic peptides for applications in medicine, diagnostics and other biotechnology area. Our integrated approach to creating new and useful biomimetics and bioconjugates involves molecular design, chemical and/or biological synthesis, physical characterization, and finally, rigorous in vitro and in vivo testing of the new probes for their intended medical or biotechnological uses. The work is highly interdisciplinary and collaborative, and variously intersects the domains of synthetic peptide chemistry, recombinant DNA technology, protein mimicry or modification, nanobiotechnology, and finally the invention of new microscale biosensor technologies. The team of F-BTS is interesting in how the integration of diagnosis and therapy might transform the lives of human patients and animals.
