M.A. Modern Cultures and Languages - German
I discovered a passion for language learning as a high school student and participated in my high school's GAPP exchange program. It was this experience especially that led me to study German. Before teaching, I worked for the German American Chamber of Commerce, the US Department of Veteran's Affairs, and a Houston-based language services company.
In 2019, I received the AATG German Embassy Teacher of Excellence Award in Washington, DC, one of my proudest moments! In 2023, I was awarded with the DAAD Mid-Career Professional Award for Accomplishments in International Education between the USA and Germany.
At Clements High School, I sponsor the German Club, German National Honors Society, and German American Partnership Program in cooperation with the Lessing-Gymnasium in Cologne and Travis High School.

M.S. Curriculum & Design Instruction
I am a happy new member of the Ridge Point Team. Before coming to Ridge Point, I taught German and World History for ten years at Pasadena ISD. In 2022, I am looking forward to starting a new German Program here at Ridge Point which will eventually include German I-III and AP German IV.
I took German in high school and spent my junior year in Germany as a foreign exchange student. My exposure to German culture and language was a truly profound experience that cemented my lifelong passion for language and history. I continued to study German at the University of Houston, where I earned my degree in German Studies. After graduation, I began working as a translator and interpreter for a Houston-based language services company, before becoming a teacher twelve years ago. At PISD, I took over and expanded the German program there. I have since earned my MA in Curriculum and Instruction from WGU.
I believe learning a language should be an immersive experience that comprises extracurricular activities such as annual competitions, community engagement, class trips abroad, and exchange programs such as GAPP. I enjoy providing the opportunity for students to experience, appreciate, and understand different cultures through the learning of a new language.
