This event is in support of a 3 day tour through some of the monuments and battlefields where Canadian soldiers saw action in WWI through northern France and Belgium.
Sites visited by the youth will include the battlefield at Beaumont Hamel where the Royal Newfoundland Regiment fought and suffered great losses on July 1, 1916.
We will also be touring the site at Vimy Ridge to experience the reconstructed trenches and tunnels used in that pivotal battle as well as to experience the beautiful Canadian National War Memorial on the ridge itself.
We are very fortunate to be able to participate in the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres, Belgium.
Finally we will tour the Passchendaele region taking in the Essex Farm Cemetery, the Sanctuary Woods Museum, Hill 62, the Brooding Soldier Canadian Monument...
As well as the Passchendaele Canadian Memorial at Crest Farm, Tyne Cot Cemetery and the Flanders Fields Museum.
By participating in this tour as a group we hope to learn more about our Canadian history abroad and about our country's participation in WWI. We hope to take time to remember those who fought and to be thankful for the freedoms we enjoy today because of their sacrifice.
We thank you for your support through this event!
