Our Pastor
July 1st 2023 Rev. Steven Philipp was called to be the Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Laurelton.
Pastor Steve Philipp is originally from Gibbstown, NJ and attended Paulsboro High School. He earned a B.A. in Communications & Journalism from Pfeiffer University, NC in 2000. Upon graduation, he spent twelve years in the insurance industry.
Steve was then called into ministry and received his Master of Divinity at United Lutheran Seminary (Formerly: Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia) in 2015. Steve has been in ministry for over a decade as a senior pastor, youth pastor, Elder and pulpit supply pastor. He was ordained by the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey/USA on November 24, 2019.
He loves working with all people and has a passion for community outreach and preaching. His past ministries involved implementation of a food pantry, community Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas gift deliveries to children and veterans, Easter egg hunts, family movie nights, addiction awareness concerts, Advent concerts, celebrations and more. Pastor Steve loves movies, music, reading, playing sports and is an avid Philadelphia sports fan.
Our Music Director
Gary Cuccurullo leads the Church Music Ministry as organist and pianist. Gary and the Praise Team lead the congregation singing with a wide selection of hymns and praise songs. Gary is host to many guest soloists. Music at FBCL is a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary praise music offering something for everyone. Dina Schmidt serves as Church Clerk and Secretary. If you have a concern, you may call the church at any time. Please leave a message and we will return your call ASAP. If you wish to see the Pastor, call for an appointment at 732-840-1505.
Dina is editor of the church newsletter. She also keeps the membership roll, does the weekly Sunday service bulletin and handles calls for assistance working closely with the Pastor.
