Our mission of Agriculture in the Classroom program in Fayette County is to help students & teachers in grades K-12 get excited about agriculture and gain the knowledge needed to become agriculturally literate through engaging, relevant, Iowa Core Based STEM lessons and activities at no cost to schools or homeschool families. Our mission is accomplished by sharing real-life examples to various classrooms in the county.
Agriculture plays a vital role in our daily lives – one we sometimes take for granted. Twenty-two million jobs nationally are related to agriculture, and the Ag in the Classroom program has been developed to help children and teachers learn about agriculture.
The goal of the program is to encourage educators to teach their students about our food and fiber system and the role of agriculture in our economy and society. Many resources are available through our County program, Iowa Ag Literacy Foundation and National Ag in the Classroom to incorporate into existing lesson plans to help understand the importance of agriculture in our daily lives.
The Fayette County Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom serves as the local contact for Iowa Ag Literacy Foundation in part with Iowa Farm Bureau and welcomes the opportunity to assist you in include agriculture into your curriculum and part of your student's education.
