Faxlane – Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Faxlane ("the app", "we", "us") handles your information. Faxlane is published by Md. Nasar Uddin Redoy. If you have questions, contact us at developer.nasar416@gmail.com.
1. Summary
- We only collect what is needed to send and receive your faxes.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
- You can delete your account and all your faxes at any time from inside the app.
2. Information we collect
a) Account information
When you first open Faxlane, the app creates a random account ID. It does not identify you personally. It is stored in your phone's Keychain and in your iCloud (iCloud Keychain and iCloud key-value storage), so your account can be restored after a reinstall.
If you choose Sign in with Apple, we receive a unique Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name. We do not receive your email address from Apple.
We keep that name (or the name you give when you join a team) with your account. In a team, your teammates see it on the faxes you send.
If you sign in with Apple on a phone where you used Faxlane without an account, that phone's faxes and purchased pages move to your Apple account.
b) Faxes you send and receive
We collect:
- the documents you fax (scans, photos, PDFs, Word files, typed pages, signatures you add, and cover pages)
- the fax numbers you send to and receive from (if a sender hides their number, we only know that it was hidden)
- notes you add
- the number of pages
- the date, time and delivery status of each fax
- the fax numbers you block, so that faxes from them can be refused as they arrive
We use this information only to deliver your faxes, show them in the app, and count the pages used by your plan.
c) Fax numbers
If you have a paid plan, the fax numbers you pick are assigned to your account.
d) Purchases
Subscriptions and page packs are processed by Apple. We never see your payment card or billing details. We receive confirmation of what you bought through our purchase partner RevenueCat, linked to your random account ID. By buying in the app, you agree that when you ask Apple for a refund, we (through RevenueCat) may share information about the purchase and your use of what you bought with Apple, only as far as Apple needs it to decide on the refund. Your faxes and their contents are never shared.
e) Contacts
If you choose to import contacts, Faxlane reads only the names and fax numbers of your contacts on your phone. Your personal contacts stay on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.
If you are in a team, contacts you add to the team's shared list are stored on our server so your teammates can use them.
f) Camera, photos and files
The camera is used only to scan documents you choose to fax. Photos and files are accessed only when you pick them, or when you share them to Faxlane from another app. They stay on your phone until you send them as a fax.
g) Face ID
If you turn on the Face ID lock, the check is done by iOS on your device. We never receive your face data.
h) Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token to tell you when a fax is delivered, fails or arrives. While a fax is being sent, we also keep a Lock Screen (Live Activity) token for that fax, so its progress can be shown; it is deleted when the fax is finished.
i) Email (optional)
If you turn on "Email me faxes I receive", we store the email address you confirm. We first send a one-time code to that address. Once you enter the code, we send received faxes to it.
In a team with the shared inbox on, each teammate who confirmed an address receives the team's faxes this way.
If you reply to one of our emails, your reply comes to our support address.
j) App information
We collect the app version, iOS version, language, whether the app was installed from the App Store or TestFlight, and when it was last opened. We use them to keep the app working (for example, asking you to update an old version) and to count active installs.
k) Abuse prevention
To stop abuse, we record network addresses and the email addresses codes are sent to, but only in a one-way hashed form that cannot be turned back into the address. We keep these records for at most 7 days. Examples of the abuse this stops:
- too many new accounts from one network
- too many email codes sent to one inbox
- too many purchase checks from one network
- repeated wrong team invite codes
Any free pages, and the pages in a free trial, are given once per iPhone. For this the app keeps a small mark in this phone's Keychain (it isn't synced and contains nothing about you), and, when a new account is made or a purchase is checked, uses Apple's DeviceCheck service: Apple lets us keep two yes/no answers about this iPhone ("free pages already given", "free trial already had"), without telling us who you are or which iPhone it is. Apple keeps these answers even if the app is deleted or the phone is erased.
l) Support
If you contact us, we receive your message. If "Include app details" is on, the app adds your app version, iOS version, account ID and plan, so we can find your account; it never adds your faxes. We may keep a short note on your account to help with your request.
3. How we use your information
- To send and receive faxes, and to show their delivery status.
- To manage your plan, page balance, fax numbers and team.
- To restore your account after a reinstall.
- To send the notifications and emails you turned on.
- To answer your support requests.
- To prevent abuse and fraud, such as blocking premium-rate numbers and limiting daily faxes.
4. Service providers
We share information only with the services needed to run Faxlane:
- Telnyx: sends and receives faxes over the telephone network, and provides fax numbers. For a fax you send, Telnyx fetches the document from us through a signed link that expires, and we ask it not to store a copy. Once a fax you receive is stored with us, we ask Telnyx to erase its copy. Telnyx may keep records of fax calls (such as numbers, time and pages) for its own billing and legal duties.
- Cloudflare: hosts our server, and stores fax files in encrypted storage.
- RevenueCat: confirms your App Store purchases.
- Resend: sends the one-time email code and delivers received faxes by email, only if you turn that on.
- Apple: handles payments, Sign in with Apple, iCloud and notifications. Notifications pass through Apple's push service and contain the fax number and page count.
These providers may process data only to provide their service to us.
5. How long we keep data
- Fax files are kept for the period you choose in Settings (30 days by default), then erased automatically. Received faxes and faxes that didn't go through are removed completely at that time. For a fax you sent that was delivered, the delivery record (receipt) stays until you delete it.
- Faxes in Trash are erased 30 days after you delete them, or earlier when the period you chose in Settings ends.
- To avoid charging you for faxes that cannot arrive, we keep for 90 days a record of how faxes to a number went (delivered, answered by a phone, or out of service). It holds only the fax number and the result, not who sent to it.
- A record of account activity (for example, faxes sent, plan changes and sign-ins) is kept for 90 days, to help with support and to prevent abuse.
- If your plan ends, your fax number is held for 14 days and then released.
- When you delete your account (Settings → Privacy → Delete account), we permanently delete your account, all faxes, all files, your blocked numbers, your activity record and your fax numbers. We keep only the App Store transaction IDs of page packs you bought (no faxes, numbers or contact details), so the same purchase can't be credited twice. If you owned a team, its members return to their own accounts and the team's shared contacts are deleted. If you were a member of someone else's team, the faxes you sent for that team and the pages you bought for it belong to the team and stay with it.
- If you turn on iCloud backup, copies of your faxes and receipts are also stored in your own iCloud Drive, under Apple's privacy terms. They stay there until you delete them.
6. Teams
In a team, the owner's plan, pages and fax numbers are shared.
- The team's owner can see all of the team's faxes.
- With the shared inbox on, everyone in the team can see them.
- With it off, other members see only the faxes they sent.
Each fax shows the name of the teammate who sent it, and a note added to a fax can be seen by whoever can see that fax. The app tells you this before you join a team.
7. Security
- All data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
- Your account token is stored on our server only in hashed form.
- Links used to deliver fax files are signed and expire.
- Only the developer can access our admin tools, and that access is protected by a password and sign-in limits.
- On your phone, copies of faxes opened to share or print are kept in the app's temporary folder and removed when the app starts again or when you leave an account. Files waiting to be faxed are removed when the app starts again.
8. Your rights
You can access, export (share any fax as PDF) or delete your data at any time in the app. You can also email us to ask for a copy of your data or for its deletion, for example if you no longer have your phone.
Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, UK or California), you may have additional rights under local law. Contact us and we will respond within 30 days.
9. Children
Faxlane is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. Important changes will also be shown in the app.
