The SEA-Teacher Program is an international initiative organized by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Secretariat, created to give pre-service teachers across Southeast Asia the chance to experience teaching beyond their home countries. Through this program, participants are immersed in real classroom environments where they can strengthen their teaching abilities, use English in authentic academic settings, and gain a deeper understanding of different cultures and educational systems. At the same time, the program encourages participants to become more flexible and responsive in handling diverse learning situations. This program typically runs for about one month and is open to third- and fourth-year education students from various fields, including Mathematics, Science, English, Early Childhood and Primary Education, Physical Education, and Social Studies. Throughout the program, participants begin by observing and assisting in classrooms to understand the teaching process, followed by taking on the role of a teacher by preparing and delivering their own lessons. They also engage in cultural exchange activities that help improve their communication and interpersonal skills. To support their journey, participants are guided by lecturers from the host institution and accompanied by student buddies, creating a supportive environment that contributes to both their academic development and personal growth.
