Description: If you are unfamiliar with planetarium software, we recommend you download and try Stellarium first of all. Stellarium is easy to use and is visually nice. Its main failing is the limited database of objects. However, for getting used to how planetarium software works and for many of the introductory activities we have, it is highly recommended as it is available free of charge.

This excel spreadsheet was developed by the LCO education partner project 100 hours for 100 schools. It can be used to check if an object you want to image is observable by the LCO telescope noetwork. To be observable, the object cannot be close to the Sun and must be viewable during darkness. If you know the RA/Dec of an object, this tool is a quick way of seeing whether it is visible in the night sky on a given date.
This guide, developed by the LCO education partner project 100 hours for 100 schools, explains how to use the tool above.
