PhD, DEA, DEEEng.
Associate Professor of Automatic Control and Industrial Systems
Anas Fattouh is an Associate Professor and researcher at Mälardalen University (MDU), with over 20 years of experience in academia and applied research. He holds a Diploma in Automatic Control and Industrial Electronics from Aleppo University (1992), a Master’s degree (DEA, 1997), and a PhD in Automatic Control from Grenoble INPG, France (2000). He is a Docent in Industrial Systems at Mälardalen University (2024).
His research spans Intelligent Control Systems, Industrial Systems, Simulation and Modeling, and Digital Engineering, with applications in smart manufacturing, sustainable production, and autonomous operations. He integrates model-based and data-driven approaches to optimize complex industrial systems.
He currently leads the TESTED-SOS project at MDU, a follow-up to the TRUST-SOS project, in collaboration with BTH and Volvo Construction Equipment, where they develop and validate a digital simulation and optimization platform for off-road industrial applications.
In teaching, Anas emphasizes experiential learning and digital integration, leading courses such as Smart Factories, Big Data and Cloud Computing for Industrial Applications, and Introduction to Applied AI for Manufacturing Industry, where students apply digital technologies and industrial systems concepts to real-world scenarios through physical labs, virtual production environments, and simulations.
