Why is this important to me?

As an African American female, the realities of wage inequality among races and genders directly impacts my life. Facilitating this research is important to me so that I can bring awareness to the actuality of the society we live in. For centuries, women have fought for fair rights and equal treatment, and they still have not successfully won the battle. The factual evidence provided by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Department of Labor shows that women are not paid equally and nothing is done about it. My hopes are that this research will have an impact on viewers just as it has me.
