Fatima Jamal Khan

Research Fellow

I'm currently a Research Fellow at MUCHE (Macquarie University Centre for the Health Economy). Prior to this I worked as an Early Career Academic Fellow at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) where I obtained my PhD in Economics in 2022. My thesis, titled ‘Essays in Development Economics’ was completed under the supervision of Professor Pauline Grosjean and Dr Sarah Walker. It predominantly focuses on issues pertaining to gender, education and socio-economic insecurity.

My job market paper assess the impact of a classroom-based positive psychology intervention on improving academic performance by conducting a Randomised Control Trial (RCT) with school-aged children (10-14) years. More importantly, I also used experiments to elicit parental investment preferences in the health and education of their child to identify dynamic complementarities in human capital formation.

I received my MSc in Economic History from the London School of Economics (LSE) in 2016 and BSc (Hons) in Economics from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in 2015.

Research areas: Development Economics, Behavioural Economics and Economic History
