This workshop offers a creative visual framework using a solar system analogy to help people map out the subconscious survival strategies that may be impacting their lives. For example, people pleasing, dissociating, perfectionism, avoidance and being controlling are all what I call 'survival strategies'.
The first half of the workshop goes through the theory and concepts and the second half will be an activity portion where participants will map out their own survival planets using worksheets I'll provide.
This is a very interactive and engaging workshop with lots of discussion and activities!

This workshop was inspired by the question "What keeps people living in ways that aren't serving them?"
It introduces a model for understanding why individuals and systems often resist change, even when it appears beneficial for them or they desire it.
This workshop will explore:
Core protective beliefs
The 4 components for change
Cognitive dissonance
Dialectical thinking
Self-identity theory
The brain's protective mechanisms
Rationalizations
Flawed justifications
and will end with a thorough breakdown of the core frameworks I created specifically for this workshop: the Maladaptive Fear Cycle and the Adaptive Growth Cycle.

This is not your typical equity, diversity and inclusion training!
This workshop was inspired by me wanting to create a prequel or foundational workshop to traditional EDI trainings that often start out on the assumption that everyone is on the same psychological page: that they believe EDI work is important, meaningful, relevant and necessary. This is not always or even often the case.
This training integrates storytelling, discussion and visual metaphors to address emotional and psychological resistance including defensiveness, intention vs impact, privilege, and shared accountability.
Rather than avoiding or judging common reactions like defensiveness, privilege, or focus on intention over impact, these are all incorporated into the workshop and discussions.
I focus on strengthening empathy and context-building through personal reflection tools like the ‘Blind Spots’ metaphor and the ‘Accountability Checklist’.
We end with a practical allyship essentials toolkit and building confidence through roleplays and exercises that will give you an opportunity to practice what you learned!
