• Nov. 2024, our undergraduate researcher, Mr. Prithwy Biswas, wins the Stamps Impact Prize for his study on Schlieren imaging. Congrats Prithwy!

• Nov. 2024, two studies by PhD student Ben Savino on rotating turbulence and flow over shark denticles have been published in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics. Congrats Ben!

• Nov. 2024, we had a great morning sharing our wind tunnel with parents and kids at the "Art of Aerodynamics" events at the UM Museum.

• Nov. 2024, Wen gave a seminar in the Aerospace Engineering department of Mississippi State University. 

• July 2024, Mr. John Miles defended his MSc thesis. Congratulations John!

• May 2024, an Art of Fluids exhibition regarding shark dermal denticles is set up via a collaboration with the UM Museum!

• April 2024, our lab participated in Mississippi Day 2024 with our wind tunnel and an Oobleck pool! 

• June-Aug 2023, Ben and Wen visited CTR at Stanford to study shark denticles in fluid flows. 

• Jun-Aug 2023, John Miles worked as a co-op in Dayton, Ohio. His work focused on CFD in a defense sector setting.

• Dec. 2022. We received funding to set up an educational wind tunnel at UM. Thanks for your support Mississippi Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors.


• Nov. 2022. John and Ben's work were presented at the APS DFD meeting in Indianapolis. 


• Sept 2022, John started as a Ph.D. student. Welcome, John!

Prospective graduate students interested in joining FAST should 

1.  Show proof of credentials, including GPA>=3.7/4.0 (>85/100), GRE Q165+ and V150+ and W3.5+, TOEFL100+.

2.  Contact Dr. Wu to express their interest. Please include your CV and transcripts in your email. Due to the number of applications we received, candidates who do not meet the criteria above may not be considered. 

3.  Apply for admission to the graduate program in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Mississippi
