Open GL generally ignores Materials, shaders, textures (if so set up), lighting, normal mapping, etc., all the stuff that makes full renderings so time-consuming. But it still generates an image that has to be further process with the other images to be able to be viewed as a movie at full speed.

So the Open GL render function is the fastes way to get a movie-file, or single image-file.

A screen recording software to record the playback will then be the only way to create a movie file with the speed of the playback, correct?

Is there no internal blender function to safe the playback directly as a movie-file?

Plus, if your animation plays OK in the UI, then an OpenGL render will likely be very fast, because things that slow the UI playback also often make the OpenGL renders slower. The benefit (imo) of using the OpenGL renderings to check animation is that the playback speed of the resulting movie will be exactly as needed if set up properly, and you can easily scrub in some players to inspect the action in more detail. Plus the renderings can be at full frame size. Including other scene elements (such as props, landscape, etc), which would slow the UI playback, is also very possible.

Of course ur correct, recording the playback only makes sense if the playback speed is at 24fps. But the playback is normaly very stable at 24fps, because when I need this test-clips, the scence is reduced to a minimum.

1) Plugged in ethernet cable coming out of Orbi Router to my computer an ran SpeedTest.NET and I get a speed of about 500 MBPS. I get similar speed when I run speedtest on my mobile phone hooked to the Orbi Wireless.

There is zero possibility that the computer will record a Speedtest higher than 1GHz, because that is as fast as the ethernet interface will run. Even if the computer is connected directly to the ISP device, Speedtest will record less than 1G.

The smartphone will be limited to the maximum speed of the WiFi connection. The Orbi maximum "link rate" on the user side is 833Mbs for 5G WiFi (1,200Bps on WiFi6), but devices cannot achieve that speed due to losses inherent in WiFi and conflict with other devices. This article seems to lead to the conclusion that an actual speedtest of 500Mbs is "very good".

I do not know what the effect of "Link Aggregation" is on Speedtest. It would be very interesting to see what the computer records when connected directly to the ISP device. Could you try that and report?

The test is to connect the computer to that ISP cable box and do a speed test. I am not aware of many PC's that can aggregate two gigabit connections as the Orbi does, so the resulting speed cannot possibly be more than 1Gbps.

An internet speed test measures the connection speed and quality of your connected device to the internet. It does so by running multiple consecutive tests that analyze different aspects of your internet connection, namely ping (latency), download speed, and upload speed. Each of these values represents the connection's specific qualities, which you can read more about in the paragraph after the next. These should help you understand the final speed test results. But before we get to these, we first want to discuss how to perform each test.

To speed test internet performance for downloading data the test is performed by opening multiple connections to a server and simultaneously starting the download of a large data file on all connections. This approach ensures that the entire bandwidth of the internet connection is maxed out, and thereby the maximum data throughput can be measured. Recording the data throughput against measurement time finally yields the available internet speed for downloading data.

Upload speed is tested by reversing the sequence of the download analysis. Again multiple connections are opened to the test server. Instead of downloading a file, a large file of random data is created on your device and pushed through all connections to the server. Pushing the data to the server over the network via multiple streams ensures that the maximum throughput is measured. Again, recording the data throughput against time yields the available internet speed for uploading data.

During the ping test, the device sends a small data package over the network to the test server on the internet. This test doesn't focus on upload speeds but on response time. When the server receives this package, it will send it back to the device, completing the roundtrip. The time it takes the data package to complete the roundtrip is called latency, also known as ping.
