The transition towards sustainable, distributed, and intelligent power systems necessitates effective coordination between transmission and distribution system operators (TSOs and DSOs). This project addresses the dual challenges of computational tractability and privacy in DSO-TSO coordination, by developing advanced data-driven decision-making models for harnessing the flexibility of distributed energy resources and active loads.
The project will open a new and novel way of looking at large-scale scheduling problems in
renewable power systems where the central aim is to improve the computational performance using machine learning while maintaining accuracy. Improvements in the computational performance might lead to significant economic advantages and enhanced efficiency in the better modeling of uncertainty and many sorts of constraints.
PtX Markets ( link ) Markets, Policies, and Business Models for Green Fuels
PtXMarkets investigates the market potential of hydrogen and green fuels and their implications for European electricity markets. The project develops integrated models for the short-term operation and long-term planning of Power-to-X assets, considering electricity spot and balancing markets, ancillary services, green fuel demand, renewable generation uncertainty, and emerging EU regulation such as the Delegated Act on renewable hydrogen. By combining market design, policy analysis, business models, and optimization-based planning, the project aims to identify profitable and scalable pathways for PtX investments.
