180 Days of Physical Wellness for Busy Educators: (36 weeks of daily self-care for teachers and administrators)
Author: Tina H. Boogren
Genre: Health & Wellness
Rating: 5.0
Review: Finally, someone who gets it.
I've read enough wellness books to know that most of them were not written with teachers in mind. "Just wake up 30 minutes earlier for a morning routine!" Sure. After staying up until midnight and setting the alarm for 5:45am. Thanks.
This one is different. Tina Boogren is an educator herself, and you feel that immediately. She's not asking you to overhaul your life. She's working with five things you already do every single day i.e. eating, drinking water, moving, sleeping, and resting, and helping you do them better. That's it. No complicated systems.
What I really appreciated is how she frames it. She's not telling you what you should be doing. She's asking how you want to feel. It sounds like a small difference but it changes everything about how you receive the advice.
The format is genuinely clever. It runs 36 weeks, the actual school year, so it moves with your life.. Each week has reflections and accountability tools, so you're not just passively reading, you're actually doing something.
And she directly addresses revenge bedtime procrastination - that thing where you stay up way too late doing absolutely nothing just because it's the only time of day that belongs to you.
This isn't a book that will overwhelm you. It's a non-preachy companion for people who are already running on empty. And honestly? That's exactly what most educators need.
