How do I join the Union?

• To become an Active Member you must be a paying member of our local union FARSCCD & CTA.  

  • If you are not a part of FARSCCD & CTA, then you will need to join both in order to be eligible to participate in the election. You may join both via our website: https://farsccd.org/join/ 

  • If you are already a CTA member at another district, then you will need to join FARSCCD in order to be eligible to participate in the election.  You may join FARSCCD via our website: https://farsccd.org/join/ 

• Contact our FARSCCD Membership Chairperson, Jean Proppe, to get clarification and support on membership process/regulation and member benefits. Email her at FARSCCD@gmail.com .

Am I eligible to vote?

• "The chapter president must provide all Active Members an opportunity to vote." - 2019 FARSCCD Bylaws, page 6 (Section XIII. Nominations and Elections).

• "All active members must have an opportunity to vote. 1. Active members who are off-track or on a dues paying leave shall be notified by mail/email in order to provide them an opportunity and right to vote. 2. Active members on association/affiliate business may request a ballot by mail/email." - 2023-24 CTA Procedures & Requirements for Chapters & Service Center Councils, page 6 (Section XI. Voting Methods, A).

What voting system is being used?

• "All vote requirements shall be established in accordance with CTA guidelines. Unless otherwise specified, all elections shall be decided by majority vote. Write-in votes are valid and must be counted. A. Majority means more than half of the legal votes cast for any candidate or issue on the ballot. B. Plurality means the largest number of votes cast for any candidate or issue." - 2023-24 CTA Procedures & Requirements for Chapters & Service Center Councils, page 9 (Section XII. Voting Requirement).

How do I prepare for elections?

• Research the candidates and process before you vote! Most resources are found on the FARSCCD Elections Website:

  • Review the official Announcement and Timeline.  

  • Learn about the candidates by reading the Voter Guide. 

  • Review the Elections Resources page if you want to learn more about the elections process.

  • Review the Contact Information page if you want to learn more about the Elections Committee.

How do I vote Online?

• Online Voting is available during election week. 

• Simply Voting Ballots are sent via email to all Active Members. Please check your email to find your Simply Voting Instructions & Ballot link.

• Click here to practice voting by using this sample Simply Voting Ballot. Our FARSCCD election ballot will look different from this practice ballot, however this sample ballot allows you to practice using Simply Voting on your device.

Will the ballot have a write in option for candidates? 

• Yes, a write-in provision for each office/position will be provided on the ballot. - 2023-24 CTA Procedures & Requirements for Chapters & Service Center Councils, page 6 (Section X. Ballot, C, 5).

What do I do if I cannot find my ballot in my inbox?

• Contact our Elections Committee Chairperson, Stephanie Clark, at FARSCCDElectionsCommittee@gmail.com to bring awareness of your situation. 

  • They will reach out to assist in troubleshooting the issue.

• Try these easy fixes first:

  • Check you Junk or Spam Folder: 

    • If you incorrectly marked an email as spam, you can remove an email from Spam. General steps are shown below but you can search for directions for your specific email subscription: Open your spam folder. Open a Simply Voting email. Report as not spam.

  • Make sure you resubscribe to Simply Voting in order to receive your ballots.

    • Electors that unsubscribed or reported an email blast message as spam may resubscribe by simply sending an email message to resubscribe@simplyvoting.com .

• You may want to doublecheck your CTA Profile information. Your ballot is being emailed to the email address found in your CTA Profile. 

  • Click here to find out how to update your CTA Profile. 

    • You may ask our Membership Chairperson to support you.  Contact our Membership Chairperson, Alejandro Moreno, at FARSCCD@gmail.com .

  • Once updated, please email FARSCCDElectionsCommittee@gmail.com to let them know that you have updated your CTA Profile email.

Is there an In-Person Voting Option:

• In-Person Voting is available during election week via appointment with the Elections Committee. 

• Please check the Official Announcement or Timeline for the deadline to make an appointment via email; FARSCCDElectionsCommittee@gmail.com . 

• You will need to have a Campus ID Card when you vote in person.
