About Janie

Janie

Grew up in Eagan, MN. Graduated from Burnsville High School in 1997.


Attended the University of MN: majoring in Political Science, with a Public Relations minor.


Worked at the Minneapolis VA Hospital during college as a health unit coordinator.


Interned for Congressman Jim Ramstad, and started first job with him after graduation in 2000 as a Campaign community director.


After marriage to Dave, Janie and Dave lived in Minneapolis for 6 years.


Janie was active as she was a stay at home mom- Minneapolis Meals on Wheels, volunteer at Park Avenue United Methodist Church in Minneapolis, and also a MOPS leader in Minneapolis. She also helped with the Longfellow Community Board.


After moving to Red Wing, Janie has volunteered with many community organizations: the United Way, MOPS, First Choice Clinic, Red Wing Elementary PAC, Red Wing Public Schools Foundation, Care Clinic, the YMCA, Girls on the Run, Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, Hope & Harbor, and Every Hand Joined.


Janie has started coaching volleyball, and is currently coaching middle school volleyball for the Red Wing School District. She has loved supporting & developing young ladies as they learn the game, gain confidence, and build team-building skills.






FAMILY

Married to Dave for over 22 years!


Moved to Red Wing in 2006 for a job and chose it as a great place to raise our expanding family and which was relatively close to the metro area.


Four great kids! Nathan is starting his 2nd year at the University of MN. Andrew just graduated from Red Wing High School and will be starting in the Fall at the University of Kansas. Luke will be in 9th grade, and Elizabeth in 7th grade, both in Red Wing schools.


Active at Cornerstone Community Church, YMCA, and all the activities through Red Wing School District.


The Farrar family loves watching & playing sports together, playing board games, going out on the pontoon, hosting social events, and travelling together.
