Brief Biography

I am Md Farhadul Islam, commonly known as Farhad or by my nickname, Fuad. I am an incoming PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Kentucky (Spring 2026). I will serve as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Unconventional Computing Architectures & Technologies (UCAT) Laboratory under my PhD advisor, Dr. Ishan G. Thakkar.

I completed my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with the Highest Distinction (Summa Cum Laude) from Brac University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. After my graduation, I served as a Research Assistant at the Brac University, then United International University (UIU), under the supervision of Dr. Jannatun Noor Mukta. Alongside, I was also affiliated as a Research Assistant at the Research and Innovation Centre (RIC), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), working under Dr. A. B. M. Alim Al Islam.

Before pursuing my PhD degree, I published peer-reviewed articles in prominent venues such as Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Computers in Biology and Medicine, Scientific Reports, and in the proceedings of ICCV Workshops (ICCVw), WACV Workshops (WACVw), S+SSPR, ACM COMPASS, ACM Southeast Conference (ACMSE), IEEE SoutheastCon, and ICMV, among others. In addition, I actively contribute to the research community as a peer reviewer for several prestigious journals and conferences, including AAAI, Scientific Reports, ICCVw, WACVw, IJCNN, and CSCW.

Will be joining United International University (UIU) as an RA in January 2025!! Again, under the supervision of Dr. Jannatun Noor, now Associate Professor and Director of the Data Science Program at UIU.
