Hey, I’m Farhad. I didn’t always know I’d end up loving economics it all started with my very first class. But I was hooked. Suddenly, the world made more sense in a way I hadn’t seen before. My professors showed me how fascinating economics could be, and I’m particularly inspired by the work of Daron Acemoglu on how institutions shape societies, Amartya Sen’s insights on capabilities and human functioning, and John List’s experimental approaches to understanding human behavior.
I’m especially interested in labor development, applied microeconomics, and experimental economics. But for me, research isn’t just about numbers or papers, it’s about people. Material things like a new iPhone or a luxury car don’t make me happy. What really moves me is seeing a small smile on a starving child in Africa, or knowing that even a little progress has been made toward ending conflict in places like Gaza. That’s what drives me.
Outside of economics, I love Perisan poetries, cricket, football, and meeting new people. I’m endlessly curious about other cultures and perspectives,it’s one of the ways I keep learning and growing.
This site is my little corner to share what I’m working on, what I’m thinking about, and the ways I hope economics can make a difference in the world.
