Kingdom of the Wicked by  kerri Maniscalco

Genre: Paranormal Fantasy

AWARDS: No awards, but it does have mostly positive reviews by professional critics.

Our Review: If you love stories about witches, demons, and magic, then this is the book for you.  The story follows Emilia as she struggles to understand what happened to her twin sister. As she uncovers more and more, the deeper she travels into the mystical realm of magic and ultimately the powers of hell. The story is based in Palermo, Italy and the setting is unique and plays well into the story (side note: the author loves cooking as there are details of recipes in this story that made me hungry while reading). Ultimately, I enjoyed this story more than I anticipated and I will start the sequels soon. If you enjoy any of the paranormal or fantasy elements, this is the next book for you.

Where to find it: The picture of the title will take you to the audiobook in Sora, but be sure we will add the eBook soon.  Also, we have a physical copy in the Farber Library.

Ace of Spades by Faridah Abike-IyIMIde Recommnedation

Genre: Realistic Fiction/Thriller

Awards: YALSA Top Ten Winner, and many more commendations and finalist awards.

Review: I highly recommend this book for our high school students.  The overall sense of impending doom is similar to what you get when watching Get Out by Jordan PeeleThe story tells the tale of two students at a Private school that is predominantly white, and they are the only two black students.  Rumors, gossip, an anonymous texter and more work to dismantle everything these two students have worked hard for.  It's a great read and one that griped my attention quicker than I had anticipated.

Turtles all the way down by John green

Find in the Farber Library, on Sora (including audiobook).

Genre: Realistic Fiction

Awards: YALSA Teen Top 10 Award Winner and more for 2018.

Review: Turtles All the Way Down is a great story about a teenager named Aza.  She struggles with her mind and it causes her to develop an eating disorder.  However, the story is quite interesting as there is love, mystery, and great friendships.  Her best friend is a great side character that is entirely worth reading just for her sake. If you've ever though about reading a John Green book or if you want to dive into the mind of someone dealing with real mental health issues, this is the place to start.
