Introduction
FAPA Foundation has been providing the general GPP international training program for 15 years to the selected travel scholarship awardees. GPP is the practice of pharmacy that responds to the needs of the people who use the pharmacists' services to provide optimal, evidence-based care. To support this practice, it is essential that there be an established national framework of quality standards and guidelines. We are here in Taiwan to demonstrate the framework and have in-depth discussions with attendees from other Asian countries.
In addition to the general GPP training program, the FAPA Foundation starts to hold an on-site training program on sterile hazardous compounding with a travel scholarship at the Taipei Veterans General Hospital this year. This training program aims to provide a comprehensive course, covering from the basic definition of hazardous drugs to the hands-on experience of manipulating hazardous drugs in a simulation lab according to the FAPA guideline.
The International Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) Training Program has been further enhanced this year, with the original four-day program extended to a five-day schedule, adding an additional day compared to previous sessions. In addition to the core GPP curriculum, sterile product preparation training, and hospital pharmacy visits, this year’s program introduces a new component focusing on community pharmacy practice, including dedicated sessions and site visits.
This expansion provides participants with a more comprehensive and diverse learning experience, covering both institutional and community-based pharmacy settings. Through a carefully designed and highly structured program, selected participants will be able to efficiently acquire professional knowledge and gain valuable insights into the evolving pharmacy landscape, maximizing the impact of this international training opportunity.
