In May 2009, a small group of friends broke away from the competitive gaming scene in search of something a little more laid back. Our little cohort always had a passion for gaming. But as we grew up, we realized that we had more important things on the horizon: Careers, college, relationships, family, social life…
So we founded FAP Clan, pledging to each other that the basis for membership would always revolve around good team chemistry and friendship. And nine years later (at the time of this publish) we’re still going strong. Same old group, same old plan. Today we’re adults and relationships, children, careers, chores, social lives, and obligations, have all taken precedence over what we used to spend every shred of free time doing... as they should.
One thing we’ve learned while growing up is that while we game less frequently, we game with much more meaning. From our participation in Extra-Life and Gamers For Giving, and more recently, our very own charity fundraiser at Quakecon, and hanging out at PAX, it’s events like these that really bring it to the surface.
We’ve been there for some big milestones now in each other’s lives. Through layoffs and career changes, military deployments, childbirth, and marriage, we’ve always had each other’s back. Whether we’re thousands of miles away chatting on Discord behind a screen or sitting face to face enjoying dinner as a group, the connections here run so much deeper than just a gamer tag on the other end of a computer.
All these things are what set us apart. This is how we stand out in the crowd. This started as a group of friends enjoying a mutual hobby. Now it’s how we leave our mark.
