Welcome: On 17 March we hope to welcome you to the third Functional Analysis and Operator Theory South Africa (FAOTSA) workshop, which will take place at AIMS South Africa in Muizenberg, Cape Town as part of their 6-day Siyakhula festival celebrating and strengthening Mathematical Sciences in Africa. FAOTSA 2024 will bring together the South African functional analysis community, including postgraduate students, postdocs and early career academics, along with some international specialists to foster discussion and collaboration. Visit the link for a short video about FAOTSA 2022.
Cost of attending: There will be no registration fee for the workshop nor for the Siyakhula festival and breakfasts, lunches and dinners will be provided by AIMS at no extra cost. Participants will have to arrange their own travel to and from AIMS and their accommodation.
Registration: At this stage, the number of registrations is more than the capacity of the lecture hall assigned to us. You can still register by filling out the registration form, which can be found here. You will then be added on a waiting list and can attend if there are enough cancelations or if we can increase the capacity. We hope to sort out the participant list in the second half of January.
Note that the participants of the workshop can also participate in all other activities of the Siyakhula festival.
Important dates to note:
Deadline for Registration: 15 January 2024
Deadline for Abstract Submission: 17 February 2024
Please use the buttons in the panel above to navigate to the various subpages.
Support for postgraduate students, postdocs and early career academics: CoE-MaSS provided funding to support the attendance of a limited number of postgraduate students, postdocs and early career academics (<5 years from PhD). Demographics have to be taken into account in the selection of the participants that are supported, and only very few participants that are not South African or have permanent residence in South Africa can be supported. When registering for the workshop, please indicate the categories which apply to you, provide a short motivation and upload a CV (postdocs and early career academics).

Minicourse: As in previous FAOTSA workshops, we plan to include a minicourse in the program aimed at postgraduate students, postdocs and early career academics. The minicourse at the FAOTSA 2024 workshop on Jordan-Banach algebras will be offered by Dr Mark Roelands from Leiden University, Netherlands.
