Fanyu Liu

Welcome!

I am Fanyu Liu, a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of New Structural Economics, Peking University. I received my Ph.D. in Economics from Tulane University in the United States. My research lies primarily in health economics, with a focus on how healthcare reforms in China and the United States influence pharmaceutical industry development, healthcare and insurance equity and efficiency, and population health outcomes. My work examines a range of policy topics, including China’s centralized volume-based procurement, provincial pooling of employee health insurance, county-level medical consortium reforms, the Two-Invoice System, as well as the U.S. Affordable Care Act.

My work has been published in the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, and I currently have several papers under review, including a co–first-authored study in its third-round revision at the Journal of Health Economics, a first- and corresponding-authored article under revision at the Journal of Development Studies, and another first- and corresponding-authored paper under review at Real Estate Economics. I also have a number of working papers and policy reports related to healthcare reform and pharmaceutical policy.
