The northeast sector of London was home to the Optimist Club of London – Fanshawe from May 8, 1978 to September 30, 2020. An aging club membership and the restrictions around COVID resulted in the club’s members deciding to dissolve their organization. Fanshawe Optimists had a 42-year history of offering programming to youth such as reading to children in school, hosting Friday night teen dances, operating a fireworks display on Victoria Day and they were instrumental in 2013 with supporting the financing and building of Fanshawe Optimists Little League Park at 65 Tweed Crescent in London.
