James Fanciullo
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Lingnan University in Hong Kong. I'm also a Fellow of the Hong Kong Catastrophic Risk Centre.
I work mainly on questions in normative ethics, moral psychology, and value theory. My favorite projects typically concern how basic attitudes like desire and belief can explain more complex things like collective action, emotion, happiness, knowledge, preference, and well-being. I also enjoy thinking about artificial intelligence, population ethics, and welfare economics.
Before coming to Lingnan, I completed my PhD in philosophy (2021) at Arizona State University. My advisor was Doug Portmore. I also spent a few of these years studying at Northwestern University, as a visiting predoctoral fellow.
My CV is here.
