Dr. Aló's participation in three NSF grants awarded to UC San Diego/Berkeley [PIs: Larry Smarr, Tom Defanti, 2019-23] assigned 32 GPUs, Science DMZ, direct connectivity to the NSF National Research Platform, its Nautilus Cognitive Computing Ecosystem [providing unlimited shared resources of cloud, data, exascale computing, prepared modules from over 50 member institutions], the National Data Platform [over 5,000 data sets for learning experiences, and the National AI Research Resourdces.
FAMU's Department of Commerce NTIA/Connecting Minority Communities $5.35M grant, ‘Digital Pathways to Prosperity’, is providing 100G Broadband Capabilities and connectivity to 100 homes in campus-adjacent, economically disadvantaged homes. As Co-Pi Dr, Aló is leading the DS/AI/ML Research and Learning Cluster in the grant's third goal, 'Building Big Data University K-20'.
