PHILOSOPHY
Our goal is to have fun while learning about track and field, and while improving our fitness and skill levels. Track and Field is a sport in which personal achievement is just as important as team achievement, and by improving yourself you improve the team. During the "Off-Season" of the Summer months, we will be focusing on Endurance, Strength, and Speed Training. If anyone wishes to try new running, sprinting, or jumping, we will do so. Together, we will decide the events in which you’ll compete at meets. But, the main purpose is to enjoy the process and learn new strategies of strengthening!
PRACTICES
Starting on Monday, Jun 17, 2024, attendance will be taken at practices, and you must attend practices to participate in meets.
Practices will begin at 6:00 PM SHARP on Monday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
WHAT TO BRING TO PRACTICE EVERYDAY:
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) All participants are responsible for their own facemasks, hand-sanitizer, etc. and will adhere to CDC guidelines for its use and practice and will socially distance accordingly.
Proper Dress Attire: Boys: shirts/tanktops are to be kept on at all times; Girls: running tanks/shirts on at all times; running bras not acceptable as outerwear
Water bottle(s)
Mandatory: Running or Cross-training sneakers (not: basketball shoes, Converse, Keds, etc); if you are competing, FTC Uniform is mandatory.
Optional but suggested: Hat and Sunscreen, energizing snack.
MEETS: Each member is responsible for their own transportation to practices and meets.
Family TC members will begin competing at LI USATF Summer Series Meets on Wednesday evenings in July. All members are responsible for their own transportation to events. I will be handing out CONTACT information sheets to aid in the process if your parent/guardian is not able to transport you.
Speed, Strength, and Endurance Practices will continue until the end of August, although the last meet is the last week in July. In the event that I am away with my family, I will be leaving each Assistant, Volunteer, and athlete with workouts to complete at their closest track, or you can continue to meet at Longwood as a team at the normal time. Parents' assistance will be greatly appreciated and mandatory for meets.
