Family Checkout is developed by Chosen Path Interactive. This Privacy Policy explains how Family Checkout accesses, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the app.
Family Checkout may store information you enter or choose in the app, including:
Grocery budget amounts
Grocery tax rate
Shopping trip items and totals
Grocery List items
Favorite grocery items
Theme preference
App settings and tutorial status
Some of this information is stored locally so Family Checkout can continue working between sessions and when an internet connection is unavailable.
Family Checkout allows users to create and join shared grocery lists.
Shared-list information may be stored using Google Firebase Realtime Database so changes can synchronize between connected devices.
This may include:
Grocery item names
Quantities
Optional notes
Checked or unchecked status
Shared-list identifiers
Anonymous user identifiers used to control access to shared lists
Family Checkout currently uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication for shared-list access. Users are not required to provide their name, email address, or password to use this feature.
Family Checkout uses Google Code Scanner / ML Kit through Google Play services to scan supported grocery barcodes.
Barcode image processing is performed through Google’s scanning service, while the app reads the decoded barcode value. Google states that ML Kit components may collect certain device, application, identifier, performance, configuration, and diagnostic information for analytics and diagnostics.
For product-name lookup, Family Checkout may send the scanned barcode number to Open Food Facts, a third-party community product database.
Family Checkout does not intentionally send your grocery budget, grocery list, cart contents, tax rate, email address, Google account information, or GPS location to Open Food Facts as part of this lookup.
Open Food Facts product information is community-contributed and may occasionally be incomplete or inaccurate.
Many Family Checkout features continue to work without an internet connection.
Internet access may be required for:
Shared Grocery List synchronization
Creating or joining shared lists
Barcode product-name lookup
Subscription verification once Google Play Billing is enabled
Family Checkout offers paid subscriptions using Google Play Billing and uses RevenueCat to help manage subscription status and Premium access.
Payment information is processed by Google Play. Chosen Path Interactive does not receive or store your full payment card information.
Subscription pricing, trial periods, renewal terms, and cancellation information will be shown before a subscription is started.
Family Checkout allows users to optionally provide a Support Email. Providing a Support Email is not required to use the app and does not create a Family Checkout account or automatically unlock Premium features.
If provided, the email address is sent to RevenueCat, Family Checkout’s subscription-management service, and associated with the app’s current RevenueCat customer record. Chosen Path Interactive may use this information for customer support, subscription or purchase lookup, and administration of complimentary Premium access.
Family Checkout does not use the Support Email for advertising or marketing. Users may remove or change their Support Email within the app. Information retained by third-party service providers may also be subject to their applicable retention requirements. Users may contact Chosen Path Interactive for assistance with deletion or privacy-related requests.

These services may process technical or app-related information necessary to provide their functionality.
Chosen Path Interactive does not sell personal information.
Information may be processed by third-party service providers when needed to provide features such as:

Family Checkout uses reasonable technical measures to protect data, including authenticated Firebase access, database security rules, and encrypted network connections where supported.
No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Information stored locally may remain on the device until it is changed, cleared, or the app is removed.
Shared Grocery List information may remain in Firebase while the shared list remains active.
Users may contact Chosen Path Interactive to request assistance with privacy or data-related questions.
Family Checkout is a general grocery and household utility app and is not specifically directed toward children.
This Privacy Policy may be updated when Family Checkout changes, new services are added, or data practices change.
Any updated policy will include a revised effective date.
