About

The Families in Later Life Lab (The FILL Lab), located at the University of Missouri (Mizzou), and is directed by Dr. Megan Gilligan.  Dr. Gilligan is an Associate Professor in Human Development and Family Science at the University of Missouri.  She is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America.  Dr. Gilligan's research focuses on later-life family relationships and well-being, with particular interest in parent-child and sibling relationships in the middle and later years. She examines the predictors and consequences of later-life family relationships, with an emphasis on how these relationships influence health and well-being.  In her work, she takes a life-course perspective that emphasizes that family members’ lives are linked; therefore, life events experienced by one affect the lives and relationships of others in the family.  Dr. Gilligan also considers the dynamic nature of family ties by considering changes across time.
