During the period October-November 2019, the Central University Enactus Team embarked on numerous trips to Abbeykope (a farming community located by a river in Dawhenya) for a needs assessment. Results of the needs assessment showed that the farming community had a lot of problems however, the prominent ones were lack of money, destruction of farm products by natural phenomena, inability to access a ready market, lack of support from government and lack of adequate equipment to irrigate crops. The farmers Voice team sat down to draw plans on how to address their problems in one solution. The main aim was to make them financially stable enough to be able to manage their farm businesses.
Key things identified to solve the problem were: Advertising of their Products, Managing Farmer’s financial records, Getting Investors to invest in their Farming and getting a ready market for farmers to sell their produce. To advertise the farming products of Abbeykope community, we developed a website for the Electronic Commerce (E-Commerce) and advertisement of the product of any Farmer who signs up to be on the E-commerce platform.
We were awarded the most innovative project of the year in Ghana at the Enactus Ghana 2020 Competition
