ABOUT ME...

I have had my studio at FaMAS Studios and Gallery for over seven years. (Studio O3 on the third floor).

I only started painting in earnest after I retired in 2011. I have always enjoyed drawing but found painting a real challenge having had no formal art training. 

My background is as a scientist and engineer:- Leaving university with a PhD  in Atomic Physics I worked for a number of years as a semiconductor microchip Research & Development engineer.  I returned to university to begin a 30 year career as a university academic, specialising in electronics. I retired in 2011, having been the Head of the University's Engineering & Design Division.

Artistically I do not sit within any specific genre; cannot claim to have any particular style; and certainly have no 'artistic message' :- I paint anything that takes my fancy using a variety of media. My preferred subjects are portraits and figures; although I'm at my best when someone tells me what to paint! 

Consequently I am always happy to undertake a commission!
