Join Us in Creating Magical Yarn Wigs for Child Cancer Warriors!

FAQ Magic Yarn Project Workshop: 

1. Should I sign up early?  YES!  MYP workshops have limited capacity and fill quickly!

2. Can I sign up with friends?  YES!  It's encouraged even!  Participants are paired up to complete a wig.  So grab your buddy, make a reservation and work together! 

3. Are groups allowed?  Yes. Bring your scout troop, church groups, nursing buddies or your knitting circle.  In order to make sure everyone can attend that wishes to, we kindly ask you limit your group size to 4.      

4. Can I make changes to my reservation? Yes. Life happens and if you find you need to adjust your session time, number attending or reservation in general, we can do that. However, we'd like all who wish to participate to be able to do so.  We ask you kindly let us know at least a week before the event by emailing us at susanyoud@justserve.org

5. Can children participate?  We love kids!  Youth age 11and up are invited to participate in wig-making with an adult.  We kindly request littles under 11 to hang at home or help with some of our additional on-site projects with a parent.  Kids can also support at home in other ways--cutting yarn, gluing flowers, etc.  Check out www.magicyarnproject.com for opportunities. Wig workshops are generally for the older kids! 

6. How long should I plan on being at the event?  It takes about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to create and package a wig from start to finish.  Please plan on staying for that duration, we cannot have half finished wigs.  The session begins at 10:00am, we anticipate to be finished by 12!  

7. Can I realistically create a wig if I don't have any crafting or crocheting experience?  YES!  The beanies are already created upon arrival to the workshop.  You will simply be stringing yarn onto the beanie, adding accessories (flowers, ribbons) etc.  We have professional "magic makers" on hand to help with the styling.  If you can string or tie yarn, you're in!

8.  Is there a cost?  NOPE!  This event is FREE to the public.  It is made possible by donations, preparations and efforts throughout the year by JustServe, Magic Yarn Project and local congregations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.   

9. Can I help in other ways besides attending the workshop?  YES!  The Magic Yarn Project is a worldwide organization that constantly needs volunteers and helpers to cut yarn, bedazzle flowers, create envelopes, knit beanies, etc. We would love to connect you with our local North Carolina Chapter!
