Wings of Cultural Legacy

In western Mongolia, a group of people called the Altai-Kazakh still practice an ancient form of eagle falconry. This community is one of the last on earth that uses falconry as a method of
hunting rather than sport or entertainment. Each falconer trains with female golden eagles, the only falconers that use this species. The golden eagles in this region are able to hunt medium-sized animals such as foxes and even small wolves. Altai-Kazakh falconry was included in the addition of falconry to The Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list in 2010 and has thrived since.
