In addition to the Dala Moa used for the masthead, section openers and other display type, the team put together a suite of fonts: Heroic Condensed, used mainly for cover lines and display type on features; the Fakt family (Fakt, Fakt Semi Condensed, Fakt Condensed), used mainly for small headlines in front of book; and Tiempos Text, used for body text.

This is really messing me up, as it has to be Semibold, and if I have to make the text in photoshop first, that severely limits the range of animations I can do. I don't understand why AE can read the font but only SOME of it, while its two sister programs can read them all just fine.

I'm not certain either approach will have better results, but now and again I've had trouble with a font or variation of a showing up in the Character panel in AE and these approaches are a way of forcing the font to get chosen. You can then see where (or if) it's the font list in AE.

I have recently experienced this problem. The solution is annoyingly simple. I have checked my font library and found out, some of the fonts were installed twice. AE could'nt use those fonts. Thats it! Check your font library, and uninstall the duplications.

Afterwards, I was also poking around, and I realized you can use the TTFs if you go into Adobe Creative Cloud, search for the font, and then "activate it" (so dumb, I know). Hope that helps and saves the hassle of having to download each weight individually.

Typeface design and distribution is in a state of rapid change. Last year we noted its diffusion around the globe, and that trend persists. The majority of font production is no longer concentrated in a few regional epicenters.

Amid this shifting landscape I hope our list of favorite typefaces can serve as a guide. The writers are as diverse as their selections. They are font makers and users with a variety of perspectives, each picking a 2014 release (or two) that floated their boat. Their thoughts range from the personal (Ross on Woodkit, Dixon on Blenny) to the analytical (Stssinger on Dala Prisma, Reynolds on Lichtspiele), from the gut reaction (Bantjes on Maelstrom) to the research heavy (Griehammer on Minotaur, Hardwig on Carabelle), from the cheeky (Mora on Proto Grotesk) to the heartfelt (Jacobs on Marigny, McLaughlin on Phoreus Cherokee).

Founded in 2002, Typographica is a review of typefaces and type books, with occasional commentary on fonts and typographic design. Edited by Stephen Coles and Caren Litherland and designed by Chris Hamamoto.

After you've added some fonts, they should be showing in the font menu in each application, alongside all of your installed fonts. However, there are a few cases where you may not see the font right away.

Some programs, including Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office, do not automatically update the font menu when a new font is added. These applications need to be restarted before the new fonts are available for use.

Hello, my site had a lot of custom css for font-family and font-sizes - for some reason yesterday when I logged in, everything stopped working and now I cannot get my custom font family to work properly.

Anyone experiencing their custom fonts suddenly not loading on their website? (Specifically their heading fonts). I have not altered any of my CSS for a while. Has some of the Squarespace language changed?

I'm having the same issue and all support is able to say is "Sorry we can't guarantee CSS will be supported."

Like, it was working fine for WEEKS.

If they aren't able to guarantee CSS will work, does anyone know if they plan on creating a wawy, similar to Wix where you can upload a custom font and use it without needing to code it in ? Because this is silly and can create such annoying brand cohesiveness if they just decide that the code doesn't work anymore.

Also, to anyone reading this thread with the same problem - check the release notes for a workaround / info about the new language. My heading fonts were not loading because they were the only ones I did not use the !important; override with (p and other element specific styles all had the override; so only the generic H1, H2 and H3 instances on my website are currently broken)

Squarespace has been making some great improvements to the way fonts are rendered (25 July). This update is a great step forward that will allow Squarespace to offer new features, but it is causing some issues for sites using custom CSS to style fonts - whether or not custom font files are being used. If your custom fonts were working before and have just stopped working then you'll want to review your custom CSS to see if changes are necessary.

This is the suggested option. It ensures your fonts go through the build pipeline, get hashes during compilation so that browser caching works correctly, and that you get compilation errors if the files are missing.

However, when I created and uploaded staging and production builds, while the .css and .js files were loading properly, fonts were not. The compiled .css file looked to have a correct path but the browser http request was getting some very wrong pathing (shown below).

The browser http request is shown below. Note how it is adding in /static/css/ when the font file just lives in /static/media/ as well as duplicating the destination folder. I ruled out the server config being the culprit.

This is for people using an NX(nwrl) monorepo, I have tested this while using it there, may work for other CRA apps.First add the fonts in the assets/fonts folder, create a fonts folder, if not present.

My feeling was that if you have the font hosted locally on your website, you should be able to use the CSS Font Loading API to do the font loading for you at runtime without using a CSS file. This is a React component I wrote to do this. It is based on user-rebo's answer above, but tries to unload the font after usage. It seems to work in Firefox and Chrome. The code is:

Hey guys , I have seen alot of high quality fonts on torrent sites and other sharing sites. To begin with , I have mad respect for the people who design fonts and I would surely pay for them if I wasnt poor as fuck. So can anyone explain to me the rules that follow fonts and what the repurcussion for using a pirated font could be :S? 006ab0faaa
