Cantilever Beam made of complex microstructure alloys like Steel, super-alloy or Titanium are loaded with a bending load using a wedge indenter to get a certain deflection with time. Using some analytical equations the deflection can be expressed in terms of strain and load in terms of stress. This strain-time plot can be used to derive steady-state strain rate and its variation with stress (as shown in figure on the right). All materials in both pristine and in-service conditions can be tested via bending creep technique.
