FCCA Celebrates Anniversary, Spreads Word, Co-sponsors Events

Faiths Connect for Climate Action celebrated nearly five years of connecting individuals from faith communities throughout Dane County and beyond by doing exactly that at its Anniversary Party in Brittingham Park on August 23. As part of the festivities Kathy Kuntz, Director of the Dane County Office of Energy & Climate Change, briefly addressed the dozens gathered with words of appreciation for FCCA’s efforts of support, inspiration, and education to move Dane county faith communities forward for a more just and sustainable world.

Thanks again to everybody who attended the FCCA Anniversary Party as well as all those of you who, through your participation, interest, and curiosity with FCCA, made this anniversary a cause for gratitude and celebration.

FCCA continues to help people of faith find opportunities to connect their values with options for climate action. We do so by participation, communication, and co-sponsorship for upcoming events such as:

The Season of Creation is a time many Christians set aside to renew our relationship with our Creator and all creation through celebration, conversion, and commitment together.The season starts 1 September, the Day of Prayer for Creation, and ends 4 October, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology beloved by many Christian denominations. All are invited to join in prayer and action for our common home. You don’t need to travel to benefit from The New York City Climate Week due to its many online and hybrid events. Things officially begin with an opening ceremony Monday, 9/21/26 and run through Saturday 9/26/26, although affiliated events began Thursday 9/17/26. If you or people you know are interested in the intersection of environment and spirituality, consider attending one or more of the 4 online sessions of the 2026 Annual Environment & Spirituality Summit 9/28-29. Organized by Faith In Place (https://www.faithinplace.org/), find details and register at https://aes-summit.org/.  You may even see folks from Faiths Connect for Climate Action at one of the many watch parties for the 9/29 evening keynote session featuring Bill McKibben, long time world renowned climate advocate.

Of particular interest for those interested in exploring and understanding a Christian perspective, Christ Presbyterian Church of Madison hosts Hope for the Long Haul: An Uncommon Conversation about Justice , 5-9pm 10/23.  Co-sponsored with Faiths Connect for Climate Action and Faith In Place, find details and register here.   The evening will cover justice (racial, environmental, & immigration), hopeful perseverance, and spiritual connection through  teaching, reflection, and dialogue. The program also includes a simple meal.

Not in High School or College? Then let such youth who are engaged with or concerned about the climate crisis know about this outstanding opportunity to connect and collaborate with students and environmental activists throughout Wisconsin, share and learn what to do to help the environment, exchange ideas with student groups and clubs, and more! Details and registration at https://www.theconnectiondane.org/. Adult volunteers in relevant organizations and programs can participate as exhibitors. No charge for all youth and limited number of volunteer adults per exhibit.
