Chad and Angela Portier are the owners of FAITH FAMILY SHRIMP COMPANY located in CHAUVIN (Cocodrie), LA.

They own and operate 5 commercial fishing vessels that land an average of 2 million pounds of WILD CAUGHT American Gulf shrimp a year. Majority of their product is sold at local supermarkets and restaurants with the help of major SHRIMP processing facilities located along the Gulf Coast.

Chad Portier is a fourth generation fisherman and his sons, Chad Jr. & Jenson are fifth generation fishermen. Chad’s late father, Russell Portier Sr., built over 150 boats in his lifetime with more than half being shrimp vessels. Angela Portier’s father, Anthony Chauvin, is a third generation fishermen. He has owned, operated, and built 5 steel hauls in his lifetime and is still very active in contributing to the industry today.

Chad Sr. started trawling with his father, Russell Sr., as a young boy on a 40 foot wooden boat named the TIGER. This was not the first boat Russell Sr. had built, and as Chad Sr. got older his father started building more vessels. Russell Sr. was famous for continually building and selling shrimp boats. Chad Sr. had a hard time concentrating in school knowing how busy his dad was back at home with all the construction, so his dream of wanting to work to earn a living became a reality.

When Chad was 15 years old, his dad gave him the opportunity to pursue work in the oilfield, work as a hand at the shipyard building boats, or take a brand new 72-foot trawl boat out to sea. With no hesitation Chad Sr. took the 72-footer out for his first trip without the guidance of his father. His first trip to the Gulf did not go so well, but as days turned into years, Chad Sr. became one of the best fishermen along BAYOU PETIT CAILLOU. Some called it a horseshoe, but Chad Sr. simply called it FAITH.

Chad Sr. recently launched his biggest shrimp vessel in January 2017 named the JESUS LIVES. He built it from the ground up with the help of his brother Robbie Portier and his two sons, Chad Jr. and Jenson. It’s maiden voyage was in April of 2017. It is considered by most, one of the nicest shrimp vessels dragging along the Gulf Coast today.

In March of 2018 the Portier’s (FAITH FAMILY SHRIMP CO) bought a full time working shrimp dock in Chauvin (Cocodrie), Louisiana. The new dock would give them more product, both FRESH & FROZEN with additional customers. This meant more growth for the business, their customers, the fishermen, the community, and their families.

Angela and Chad are very thankful for buyers who support the local fishermen, docks, and processors. With this support, everyone is able to work hard and do what they love while providing for their families. They are excited to see customers promoting AMERICAN JOBS and a healthy product to seafood consumers.
