We will implement Larks/Robins calling! We encourage everyone to practice dancing with other dancers based on their position instead of their gender or gender presentation.
We hope to show off our dance community to the wide world, and to learn from traveling dancers, by providing limited housing. If you are a Fairbanks dancer and have space to keep others clean and warm, or if you'd like to stay in a dancer's home, please contact David and we will do our best to make arrangements.
Fairbanks gets direct flights from Seattle through Alaska Airlines and Delta. If you are looking for carpools or caravans along the road system, please contact David and drive safe!
Winter Dance Weekend strives to create an inclusive community, regardless of age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, (dis)ablity, physical appearance, race, religion/spirituality or other aspect of identity. We do not tolerate harassment in any form. Please exercise consent when engaging in physical activities, including asking others to dance.
Discuss the tricks behind flawless walkthroughs and then play "Simon says." Bring a dance to practice if you have one. Non-callers encouraged to attend!
Contras with figures borrowed from other dance styles.
Expand your dance awareness with delightfully unexpected contras. There will be props!
Learn a couple of folk waltz promenade sequences and how to incorporate them into your dancing.
Add some flair to your dancing and smooth common awkward choreographic transitions.
