Week 1 Meeting Rundown: What is AI?
We had a great meeting today and talked about the club's goals and activities
Club members got to hear about the office bearers backgrounds, and interests
AI is a computer's ability to mimic human intelligence, and to grow smarter by learning from its past mistakes.
The three main examples of AI that we went over were search engines, digital assistants, and self driving vehicles.
Search engines analyze past user queries to look for things to recommend to you.
Digital assistants use AI to be as familiar to you as possible. It will look at the way you talk, and the questions you ask to provide the optimal response.
Next, self-driving cars use AI to examine a vehicles surroundings. Self-driving algorithms take in large amounts of data. It uses neural networks, and computer visions to analyze the information it receives to provide the best possible outcome for a given situation.
Finally, we discussed officer positions and officer elections occurring next week on Wednesday.
Want to know more and become part of this club? You are welcome to attend the AI Clubs meetings which occur every other week!
Prior Meetings: 2022-2023
Week 3 Meeting Rundown: Weather Prediction
• Thank you everyone fore you continued interest in Al Club
• Today we had a discussion on ChatGPT and its potential uses
• We created our first Machine Learning Algorithm on DeepNote
• We coded the beginning stages of a Weather Prediction Algorithm
• Members learned how to install libraries, reference them, and install datasets
• We then created graphs from this data to analyze weather patterns
• Join us next week to complete our Weather Prediction Algorithm!
• Want to know more and become part of this club? You are welcome to attend the Al Clubs monthly meetings Once a month, on Wednesdays
Week 2 Meeting Rundown: Intro to Python
• Thank you everyone fore you continued interest in Al Club We took our yearbook photo this week
• Learned 3 basic categories of machine learning, Supervised, Unsupervised, and Reinforcement Learning
• Supervised learning is a technique where an algorithm is provided prelabeled data
• Unsupervised Learning is when an algorithm has to make assumptions off of little to no information. It is not given any classifiers
• Reinforcement Learning is the idea of punishing mistakes and rewarding positive outcomes
• We also learned the basic commands in Python like print, loops (for loops), if statements, and importing libraries
• Finally we developed a program to detect prime numbers
• Join us next week to develop our first Al program, a Weather Prediction Algorithm!
• Want to know more and become part of this club? You are welcome to attend the Al Clubs monthly meetings Once a month, on Wednesdays
Week 1: Welcome to the AI Club
The club meeting today provided an opportunity to discuss goals and upcoming activities. Members gained insight into the backgrounds and interests of those serving in leadership positions.
Artificial intelligence was described as a computer's ability to mimic human intelligence and enhance its capabilities through learning from past errors.
The primary examples of AI reviewed were search engines, digital assistants, and self-driving vehicles.
Search engines analyze user query histories to facilitate recommendations.
Digital assistants employ AI to establish familiarity, observing speech patterns and question types to optimize responses.
Self-driving cars utilize AI to examine vehicle surroundings. Autonomous driving algorithms assimilate extensive data, applying neural networks and computer vision to analyze incoming information and determine the most suitable outcome given varying conditions.
In closing, officer elections were announced for the following week, with positions to be decided on Wednesday. Those interested in learning more about the club or considering membership are welcome to attend the regular biweekly meetings.
