The Fae Folk Art Collective is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing visual, performing, and literary arts to Central Illinois via accessible, fantasy-themed events.
We are driven by the desire to provide artists with opportunities, foster collaboration within our local creative communities, and above all, to provide our guests and members with a safe environment where they can feel welcome to be whatever manner of being they so choose.
The primary way we achieve our goal is by hosting the Fae Folk Art Festival. In 2023 and 2024 we had been organizing our festival as a group of individual artists. After our third year it became clear that we had created something special and, in order to ensure it could continue into the future, we established the FFAC as a non-profit organization. During this process we have already learned a great deal about organizing, art, and community.
In May 2025 we endeavored upon our first Collective project: in preparation for the Fae Folk Art Festival we sought to make a series of videos to promote our event. These videos would utilize existing props and costumes from previous years, as well as give the Collective an opportunity to craft new props together.
The vidoe shoot itself was made possible by contributions of several local artisans and volunteers:
Celeste Durnham of Beyond Photography offered to lend us her handmade fairy wings and makup skills.
Roughly 15 volunteers with varying degrees of experience, each of whom diligently applied themself.
