*OFFICIAL DISCLAIMER & ANNOUNCEMENT*
_From the Chancellor & Founder of FADLU_
_Prof. Chime Ifebuchechukwu Giland_
The *National Universities Commission (NUC)* has no regulatory authority or direct academic jurisdiction over the *First African Distance Learning University (FADLU)*.
This is because FADLU operates strictly as a *foreign, cross-border, digital institution*.
Below is a breakdown of how FADLU’s structure exists outside the NUC’s regulatory domain:
*1. Different Legal and Academic Foundations*
- *Foreign Academic Charter*: FADLU derives its academic operating authority from international registration, primarily with the *Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Mauritius* — Registration ID: *IC402357*.
- *Corporate vs. Academic Status*: FADLU is registered in Nigeria with the *Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)* — RC: *1766732*. This registration permits us to operate an administrative liaison office in Awgu, Enugu State. It is a business registration only and does not constitute a university license from the NUC.
*2. Digital-Only Operating Model*
- *No Local Campuses*: The NUC regulates physical, brick-and-mortar universities and NUC-approved distance learning centers within Nigeria.
- *International Distance Learning*: FADLU is a 100% online institution with no physical campuses or local examination centers in Nigeria. Therefore, we operate under international distance education frameworks, including accreditation by the *Education Board for Accreditation (EBA / CCLP Worldwide)*.
*3. Alternative Credential Track*
- *NYSC Status*: Because FADLU is not part of the NUC domestic system, our graduates are not eligible for regular NYSC mobilization.
Instead, eligible graduates may apply for an *NYSC Exclusion Letter* through the Federal Ministry of Education, in line with federal policy for foreign and distance-learning degrees.
---
*Key Point*: FADLU is a legally registered foreign online university. All degrees are awarded directly by FADLU under the authority of HEC Mauritius and our international accreditations.
