Paulina Yurman is a designer and researcher. She is the recipient of a Wellcome Research EC grant for her research project Maternal Machines: Design Speculations about Fantasies of Care, which critically explores imaginaries, ideations and design opportunities related to maternal and infant care. Her work is informed by speculative and research through design approaches, often using drawing and making as forms of design research.

Amber Winick's professional practice centers around design, birth, and the wellbeing of children and families. As a writer, an independent design historian, educator, coach and mentor, Amber is committed to cultivating slower, more conscious communities of care. She is the co-author of the book and co-founder of the Designing Motherhood project, which opens at the Museum of Art and Design in New York City this month. In addition to her public facing work, she also runs weekly caregiver-child observation groups out of her home.

Madeline Balaam is a professor in Interaction Design at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Madeline has worked at the intersection of HCI and intimate health. She is currently pursuing a research agenda exploring the intersection between touch, soma design and the intimate body.

Louise Mullins is lecturer in Health Visiting at City St George’s, University of London. She is qualified in adult nursing, midwifery and health visiting. She has held clinical roles in all three professional disciplines.

Marina A.S. Daniele is a parent, midwife, lecturer and mixed-methods researcher. She is lecturer in Midwifery at City St George’s, University of London. She is passionate about improving the quality of maternity care to facilitate optimal birth experiences, and sustainable, fulfilling working conditions for midwives and other health professionals. This includes nurturing and supporting students on their journey to becoming midwives.

Dr Leila Frodsham is a a Consultant Gynaecologist and Psychosexual Service Lead. She is co Lead of the Women's Health Block and is advisor to the Vagina Museum. She has special interests in sexual pain disorders, sex in cancer and menopause and tocophobia (morbid fear of childbirth).

Dr Amali Lokugamage MBChB, BSc, MSc (Epidemiology), MD, FRCOG, SFHEA, was a Consultant Obstetrician from 2005 to 2023 and a Consultant Gynaecologist from 2005 to today. Her academic experience is in respectful maternity care, human rights in childbirth, global maternal health, decolonising maternity care and racism in maternity care. She is an Honorary Associate Professor at the Institute for Women's Health at University College London.

Laetitia de Allegri is a Swiss-born London based designer. Her work encompasses a diversity of applications from industrial products and furniture to interior projects.

Laetitia will draw and explore possible design configurations of mirrors, chairs or related objects while listening to the conversations held during our workshop. These drawings might later be developed, refined or left as they are for public display. The drawings will form an important part of the workshop's outcomes.

Poppy Kanu is a recent graduate from graphic design at Central Saint Martins. She is also a poet, singer, storyteller and mother. She often makes work about themes of care, community and storytelling.
