Cloud Print is currently not supported on Android and iOS to print via the internet, outside your network. However, Mobility Print is supported on Android and iOS if you wish to print locally within your network.

We recently bought a MF8580cdw and installed it wireless, very easy. Scanner works great. We are mostly Mac but I want to use my Chrome book to print. When I try to enable Google print in the remote UI and hit Register I get message "Failed to acquire information for registration". I see in the enable area Install CA Certificate. When I check CA certificates there appears to be 5 pre installed. I have checked the e-manual and don't find this error listed. Checked on line and didn't seem to get a good hit.

Update 24 hrs later. I Found that the SSL connection check box was not checked. After checking this the printer registered fine and it is now printing from my Chrome Book. I did not see any reference to make sure that SSL was enabled. sSmple fix but hard to find.

Don't know how secure this is but I can't log into Remote Ui if I check SSL and when I check SSL certificate nothing is showing. At least I can print. Will think twice about printing anything sensitive.

It seems Google update the CA's on the CloudPrint servers, rendering some printers (mine) unable to login to register their availability to print. The required certificates were not installed. Word on the street is that the manufacturer has to update the firmware & include the newer certificates.

However, for me, the solution was to more simply install and register a new CA. I couldn't find a procedure to do exactly what I wanted, so I flailied in the dark until I stumbled upon a solution that worked for me. I hope it works for you too. The 8500's let you upload cert files & register them. I assume this is mostly for enterprise funcitonality. In my case, I was desperately looking for a certificate file format the 8580 would swallow. So I went looking for sources. Because I'm pretty adept at MacOS, I knew Keychain Access was a possible source. So I went trolling for exports from KA for anything GlobalSign, and I discovered a format the printer would import.

When your Color imageCLASS MF8280Cw displays "Cannot use Cloud printing. (Server communication error.)", as you have seen, Cloud Print is unavailable due to an error. This will mean the printer is having problems communicating over the network or a port that is used for Cloud Print may be blocked by a firewall or other protection. I suggest you check whether the 5222 port is available from your computer.

In this situation, You can start by unplugging the router from the power for 5 seconds and then plugging it back in. Once the network is back up, you can turn the printer off and on to see if the message comes back up. If it does, I would suggest checking your router settings to make sure the 5522 port is not blocked.

I have an HP Photosmart B210 this is a e-print printer capable of printing via wifi, I'm using this printer in Google cloud print, however there is a downside, the software that comes with it is only for Windows, so to print anything I'm using my Android device.

I haven't set up a printer on linux in years. On any OS, actually. I don't even remember how to do it. Instead, to print, I'd just open the file in chromium as an image or pdf, and ctrl-p and it would let me print to any of my printers across the country. No setup. Since that's going away, I went to the wiki for printing info, and I'm pretty sure I went pale when it just directed me to the CUPS page. I remember cups from 11 years ago, nobody's dragging me back down to that hell. Surely there is something else around for linux at this point?

If your printers support IPP Everywhere /AirPrint, then setup is pretty simple. Install/enable/start cups and possibly avahi, add the printer (or set up cups-browsed). If your printer is connected via usb, you'll have to install and configure ipp-usb as well.

Edit: I believe for GTK print dialogs it should even be enough to just install/enable/start avahi, it should then autodetect IPP/AirPrint printers without any further configuration. That may also work with local printers that use ipp-usb, but I have not tested that. [source]
